According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), Washington State comes in 11th on the list of top boating states in the country. The organization ranks the states based on the sales of new outboard engines, trailers, powerboats, and aftermarket accessories. The 2015 sales in Washington State went up to $503 million, which included the sale of 958,000 pre-owned boats.
The NMMA’s data also showed 226,662 boats registered in Washington in 2014. Most of the powerboats in the market are made in the United States, and the boating business supports 650,000 direct and indirect American jobs, as well as up to 35,000 businesses.
